Atlanta Public Schools System

This course is available to Atlanta Public School educators. The class focuses on the principles and fundamentals of the Orton-Gillingham Approach. This class will provide understanding of dyslexia, characteristics of the dyslexic learner, specific procedures for teaching these students primarily in reading and spelling, and administration of informal assessments. Specific areas covered will include phonemic awareness, all phonograms, syllable types, syllable division, short vowel rules, suffix rules, basic prefixes and suffixes, and plural rules. This is a 20 hour course.

Dates: Wednesdays afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 January through May 2019
